Radiation Oncologists

Many types of cancer require treatment with radiation. Radiation oncologists may prescribe specialized treatment with penetrating beams of radiation or with implanted radioactive seeds.

Our board-certified radiation oncologists will work with you and your other physicians to give you the best treatment possible for your specific disease.

Sylvia S. Hendrix, MD

Dr. Hendrix joined the Martha Jefferson Medical Staff in 1994. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina and her medical training from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. She completed her residency at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center and is board-certified in radiation oncology. Dr. Hendrix is Martha Jefferson Hospital's Medical Director of Radiation Oncology. Special clinical interests include treatment of breast cancer, skin cancer and prostate cancer, including brachytherapy.

Cynthia Anne Spaulding, MD

Dr. Spaulding joined the Martha Jefferson Medical Staff in 1992. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and her medical training from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. She completed her residency in radiation oncology at the University of Virginia and was an associate professor of therapeutic radiology/oncology. Special clinical interests include combined treatment modality of cancer patients. Dr. Spaulding is board-certified in radiation oncology.
