Pathologists

Although you may never see our pathologists, their consultations with your surgeon or primary physician are very important to the accurate diagnosis and staging of cancer. Pathologists look at cells and tissues under a microscope. By carefully studying the size and shape and characteristics of cells in a tissue sample, pathologists can determine if cancer is present and what type it is. They can also learn many other details that are essential to the proper treatment of cancer.
