Meet Our Team

Our oncology-certified nurses are here to listen to your needs and help you understand your treatments and their impact on your life.

The mission of Martha Jefferson's nurses is to promote physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being in Charlottesville and the surrounding communities; to share the job of birth, to heal the sick and injured, and to offer heartfelt care to the dying.

This mission is realized through:

  • Our patient-and family-centered care model that incorporates the organization's commitment to Planetree philosophies.
  • Our professional practice model, actualized through a well-developed model of shared decision making and a commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration.

In 2006, Martha Jefferson was accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Magnet® organization; becoming the first independent community hospital in the Commonwealth of Virginia to achieve this recognition held by less than 5% of hospitals nationwide.

Additionally, the nurses in our South 7 oncology unit were recently honored as the 2009 Best Nursing Team from ADVANCE for Nurses magazine, an honor we accept as a result of our hard work and compassionate care.
